About me

I grew up in Northern Ireland, and have a strong Celtic core, but I have lived in England, Tanzania, and the Netherlands. My experiences of living in different cultures have been a significant influence on my personal growth and life perspective and I understand the challenges of moving and living cross-culturally as an expat. As a mother of three now adult children, I have experience of the demands of family life and moving internationally with a family. Through my Christian faith, I believe each person is unique, as is their life experience. I deeply believe that each of us is made to be in relationship and connected emotionally to others, in the I-thou relationship and that when we deeply connect with our true self we can live a fulfilled and contented life.

I am particularly interested in the neuropsychology of trauma in the body, and the impact this can have on attachment dynamics, self-confidence and identity. I have always been passionate in helping people fulfil their potential and I have over 2500 hours of private practice experience, both online and face to face with adults and young people. I utilise creative approaches, and  I love to bring nature into the therapeutic space.

I initiated my counselling training in 2000 and have counselled adults and young people in private practice, schools and community settings in UK, Tanzania and the Netherlands. My experience in education included working with young people and adults dealing with behavioural and emotional issues, self-harm, anxiety, self-esteem, self-worth, personal autonomy, and included developing life skills and self-autonomy regarding health education.

I completed my postgraduate diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy in 2021, and started my face-to-face private practice in Skipton, England, shortly after. I currently work face-to-face in Amsterdam and online in private practice, with clients from UK & Europe. I also work as a counsellor assessor at Craven College Counselling Team and as an Adolescent Counsellor with clients online in the UK.
